Sequential Decoding for Wireless Communications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sequential decoding of long constraint length convolutional codes is proposed as a candidate coding scheme for high quality wireless services. Performance of sequential decoding on Rayleigh fading channels is obtained theoretically and by simulations. Results show that sequential decoding is a good candidate for data oriented services in future wireless communication systems. The applicability of such a coding and decoding scheme for FRAMES Multiple Access is then discussed.

Performance Evaluation of Sequential Decoding System for UDP-Based Systems for Wireless Multimedia Networks
Sequential decoders are convolutional channel decoders that are characterized by having variable decoding complexity in changing channel conditions. They are widely used in wireless packet-switching networks and mobile communications. The major difference of multimedia networks from traditional networks is the deadline to display or (play) the arriving packets. Especially, this is more obvious ...
متن کاملCombined equalization and decoding for IEEE 802.11b devices
Receivers for wireless local area networks based on the IEEE 802.11b standard are required to operate well in heavy multipath, as well as additive noise impairments. This paper discusses a practical approach to combined equalizing and decoding for IEEE 802.11b systems, based on the Fano sequential decoding algorithm. Simulation results are presented demonstrating the greatly improved performanc...

i ii iii ABSTRACT Convolutional encoding is a forward error correction technique that is used for correction of errors at the receiver end. The two decoding algorithms used for decoding the convolutional codes are Viterbi algorithm and Sequential algorithm. Sequential decoding has advantage that it can perform very well with long constraint length. Viterbi decoding is the best technique for dec...
متن کاملSequential Decoding of Convolutional Codes for Rayleigh Fading Channels
The performance of sequential decoding of long constraint length convolutional codes is evaluated for Rayleigh fading channels. Sequential decoding is not practical below a certain theoretical signal-to-noise ratio, and these theoretical limits are calculated for a number of modulation methods and code rates. As an example, with BPSK modulation, soft decisions and code rate 1/2, the theoretical...
متن کاملConvolutional Coding and ARQ Schemes for Wireless Communications
Flexible and low-complexity variable rate coding schemes based on rate-compatible convolutional codes are presented. The codes have a wide range of code rates and are optimized for good performance on both AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. Furthermore, the application of these codes for rate matching, combined coding and spreading in a DS-CDMA system and hybrid type-II ARQ schemes are demonstr...
